Vehicles using the road will be typical haul trucks
used on public roadways such as tandem dump trucks and tractor trailers. Large mining equipment are
not planned for travel along this haul road. U.S Highway 50 has been in use by similar vehicles for
several years without any known incidents affecting the lateral ditch or fence line.
Surficial soils in the area are low plasticity sandy CLAY. Generally, these soils and the observed surface
conditions at the crossing will not present significant engineering obstacles that may prevent
construction of the haul road at U.S Highway 50. Furthermore, the Colorado Department of
Transportation will approve plans and drawings for access to U.S. Highway 50.
The proposed haul road access will not cause adverse effects to the lateral ditch, fence line, or other
structures north of U.S. Highway 50 provided proper haul road and bridge design is completed. No
conditions were observed that would prevent fairly standard construction of the road and bridge.
