constant, this will be easy to accomplish. A fixed mixer will accomplish the thorough mixing. A
valve and pipe will allow the mixed solution to flow to the recirculation pond where the mixture
will be allowed to enter the water output from the plant, at which point the flocculation of the
sediment will take place. The chemical is used in very small quantities and the solids should settle
very rapidly, based on experience at other sites.
Several 55 gallon drums of the Hyperfloc may be stored on site at any one time. The Hyperfloc will
be stored close to the recirculation pond so that it can be mixed and applied to the pond water
within a short distance.
The flocculant drums, mixing drums, and all pumping systems, will be contained within a
secondary containment structure that will be able to contain 110%of the volume of the largest
container. An example location of the flocculant storage can be seen on Map C-2. A standard spill
kit will be placed on site to be rapidly employed in case a spill of the flocculant were to occur. All
employees will be trained to check for spills of the flocculant and trained in the use of the spill kit.
In addition, DBMS, CDPHE and Park County Department of Health will be immediately notified if
a reportable flocculant spill occurs. Flocculant usage rate will be determined in concert with the
flocculant supplier once operations begin, through sampling and testing.
The flocculant will allow all solids to settle out in the initial area of the recirculation pond. This
pond will be excavated in native material, which is alluvium. It is not anticipated that the initial
settling area of the pond will rapidly drain to groundwater, but if that is the case, a layer of fine silt
(-6"thick)will be laid in the pond. Sediment build up from the usage of the pond will further
reduce permeability over time.
Material safety data sheets for the Hyperfloc chemical can be found in Appendix 2.
5_2 Pond Cleanout
The recirculation pond is shown on Maps C-2 and C-3. These are typical locations within the
mining area. The pond will periodically be relocated, following design criteria, throughout the
mine's life to accommodate mining under the processing area, concurrent reclamation, and
economics of material dredge piles to the processing area.
Trout Valley Ranch November 2016 D-4 c«x lxwitki and Amcia(m FLIA
