MINING PLAN
separation of the site into two parts. Until the ditch can be moved, little can be done to remedy this
situation. Nevertheless, lands around the east and south sides of the South Area should be able to be
fully reclaimed in a few years.
Extraction in the South Area will primarily involve the Little Johnson Reservoir site and the
J Property. However, there is also a small amount of additional extraction to be done in the former '!•
Phase 6e area which separates the pit from Academy Boulevard south of the tunnel under Academy.
Extraction in the North Area will include the remaining large reserves in the former Phases 5e and
1 e-north. Both of these are now combined into the North Area. The northern portions of the North ,a
Area is where the critical relocation of the Fountain Mutual Ditch will be implemented as well as
creating the transition from the pit to the highway corridor. Once the ditch is relocated it will be
possible to start merging the North Area with the South Area by removal of the corridor that
--N
currently contains the Fountain Mutual Ditch.
SOUTH AREA MINING
As stated above, most of the extraction in the South Area has already been completed. The
majority of future extraction here will involve the mining of the Little Johnson Reservoir site. As
described in that permit amendment, this mining must be performed very carefully so as to avoid
exposing the ground water.
LITTLE JOHNSON RESERVOIR MINING PLAN: On the following pages the mining plan for
this area is presented in its entirety. Edited text of the original approved plan are shown using
strikeout text with replacement text in capitals. This plan must be followed very carefully as the
mining of this area ustnep groundwater interfere with the effectiveness of the
emediation progra hat is being conducted in this area. This plan was previously approved by
amendment in 2005. The Little Johnson mining plan is a separate plan within the overall mining plan
and includes special requirements that specifically address the needs of this area.
LITTLE JOHNSON AMENDMENT
Mining Plan (as stated in that amendment)
INTRODUCTIONAND OVERVIEW: The following mining plan primarily addresses the Little
Johnson amendment area and how it integrates with the THE REST OF THE
Daniels Sand Pit Amendment (2008) Exhibit D Page 9 of 28
