MINING PLAN
3. A small map is provided on the next page that shows the land that was removed when the
processing plant area west of Academy was removed from the plan. More detailed maps for the west
side from here on, including annual report maps, will only include the permitted portion(basically
the sediment basin) and some of the land adjacent to the sediment basin.
4. A small parcel of land has been added to the south side of the land east of Academy. This
parcel of land is referred to as the J Pry .o2erty. The former owners of this land was a family named
Johnson. Unfortunately, if called the Johnson Property confusion of this property with the Little
Johnson Reservoir site could easily occur. Therefore it will be called the J Property to avoid
confusion.
PHASING, AREAS, AND SEQUENCING
In the prior permit both the western and eastern portions of the operation were divided into a
number of phases. East of Academy this subdivision of the land extended yet further by defining
certain sequences of operation. At that time, such a classification was useful. But now that most of
the phases have been mined out and the locations no longer distinguishable or relevant to the plan,
continued use of those phases seems to be pointless and adds considerable complexity to a fairly
simple plan from this point on. As a result, the site has been completely reclassified. Phases and
sequences of operation are no longer relevant or distinguishable in the course of operating this pit.
Instead, the site is divided into three areas, two of which, in time, will be merged and become
indistinguishable.
Sediment Area: This is all that is left from the 1992 permit amendment that is located
west of Academy Boulevard.
North Area: This area is defined by the southern edge of the remaining location of the
Fountain Mutual Ditch. It extends to the base of the sand face south of the
ditch. From there it extends northward to the north permit (affected land)
boundary at the highway right of way. Most of the future mining will occur in
this area.
South Area: This area extends from the south edge of the North Area to the southern
permit(affected land)boundary. Most of the sand here has already been
removed, but the Little Johnson and some other miscellaneous extraction still
Daniels Sand Pit Amendment (2008) Exhibit D Page 6 of 28
