Design Report
Daniels Sand Wash Fines Pit
9/21/2016
Page 2of5
The test boring reports were amended as necessary to reflect laboratory test data. The results
of the laboratory testing are summarized in Section 3. The laboratory test results are included
in Appendix B. Laboratory analysis was performed at Martinez Associates laboratory in Golden,
Colorado.
3 SUBSURFACE CONDITIONS
A general description of the predominant stratigraphy encountered in the proposed area of
construction is presented below. For a more detailed description of the subsurface conditions,
please refer to the test boring reports provided in Appendix A.
3.1 Eolian Deposits (SP, SP-SM, SC-SM, SM, CL-ML, CL, CH)
The eolian deposits consisted of loose to dense poorly-graded sand (SP), poorly-graded sand
with silt (SP-SM), silty clayey sand (SC-SM), silty sand (SM)and medium stiff to very stiff sandy
silty clay(CL-ML), lean clay (CL), and fat clay with sand (CH). The thickness of the eolian
deposits ranged from 24 to 29 feet and blow counts ranged from 4 to 36 blows per foot (bpf).
The laboratory results are presented in the table below.
Table 3-1. The thickness of the coarse alluvium ranged from 8.5
to 15 feet and the blow counts ranged from 1 to 37 bpf. The laboratory results are presented in
the table below.
Table 3-2.
