Wetland Delineation Report for the Global Assets Mine Property, Weld County, Colorado
4.1.1 Elevation and Topography
According to U.S. Geological Survey topographic quadrangle maps and Google Earth,
elevations in the project area range from 4,839 to 4,849 feet above mean sea level. The
topography within the Project Area is relatively flat, with the exception being the west banks
of the South Platte River, which are steeply incised.
4.1.2 Vegetation Communities
Vegetative communities within the survey corridor are limited to woody and herbaceous
upland communities, man-made ditches, palustrine emergent wetlands, riparian forest, and
croplands.
4.2 Waterbodies
Three ditches, all earthen, were identified within the Mining Area. 2DOT recorded the general
characteristics and OHWMs of each ditch and summarized them in Table 1. The third ditch is
not referenced in Table 1 as it was determined to not support an OHWM. Descriptions of each
ditch are provided below. The ditches are depicted in Figure 3.
Table 1. At the north end of the Mining Area it exits via
a 2-foot polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe. The ditch's OHWM is cut into the banks at
approximately two to three feet above the bottom of the ditch. The narrowleaf cattail (Typha
angustifolia; OBL) and the curlytop knotweed (Polygonum lapathifolium; OBL) were found
within the OHWM in several locations; however, the shelving and clear line impressed in the
bank remained clear indicators of an OHWM throughout the extent of this ditch's run across
the Mining Area. This feature is not mapped by the NWI. Photographs are provided in
Appendix A.
10 2DOT
