Shallow rill in the upper, eastern reclaimed bench of the RDA requires filling in with
brush as agreed during the field evaluation. Resolved

AUGUST 2016 MAINTENANCE ITEMS
2. Culvert 81 needs to be cleaned out. Resolved
3. The gully forming near the belt portal, should be addressed as soon as possible. Resolved
with armoring see photo 6 below.
4. Adjacent slopes at the discharge channel at Pond 8 require seeding and hydromulching while
precipitation events can support germination and growth.

SEPTEMBER 2016 MAINTENANCE ITEMS
5. The west end of the New Elk site where additional stream buffer markers are required.
6. Coal refuse and fines under the conveyor should be removed to the RDA to prevent movement offsite
as pointed out in previous inspections.
7. Coal residue remained at both ends of the conveyor system. Mr. Zube r pointed this out in the June
2016 inspection and requested that this be removed to avoid material transport during runoff. (Janson
loadout)
8. Numerous weed species appeared in prevalent numbers throughout the Janson loadout site.
11. C81 at the end of the RDA near the sump requires cleaning. Resolved
12. CA contained some fist sized rocks and sediment. The associated sump held water. Resolved
13. C64 exhibited water Ponding at the outlet. Resolved
14. C81 at RDA needs maintenance (photo 8). Resolved
15. D56 requires cleaning out to establish positive drainage to culvert C81. Resolved
16. The ring ditch D around topsoil #2 is ponding water. It was breached in last rain so monitor this and
build up the ditch to prevent breaching making sure to establish and maintain positive drainage to
prevent water ponding.
17. Rills forming on the eastern slope of the soil storage area. Monitor and mitigate (branches maybe) as
needed to prevent soil movement.
18. Gully forming at the top of RDA on east side near the belt portal. Discussion on mitigation
included constructing a sump above, berming the area and armoring the gully. Resolved with the
exception of hydroseeding, see photo.
19. The east sump on the RDA required cleaning. Resolved
20. Coaly slope within stream buffer area north of Pond 6. This material should be removed and disposed
of in the RDA to prevent movement into the stream buffer zone.

INSPECTION:
SIGNS AND MARKERS Rule 4.02
o Disturbed area boundary markers (white stakes) observed were intact and appeared
properly placed at the New Elk site.
