PERMIT#: M-1983-178
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS:TCW
INSPECTION DATE:October 19,2016
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection conducted by TC Wait of DRMS; Mr. Robert Darnell was present
representing the operator. The site is located about 4 miles northeast of Las Animas on CR 13, north of
Highway 50. The Fort Lyon Canal runs immediately south of the site. The site was last inspected in November
2011. The permit area is 26.1 acres. The entrance road was marked with the permit sign and the permit
boundaries were marked with fence line and corner signs.
At the time of this inspection, the site was dry and had been graded and seeded toward reclamation and
release. No mining has occurred at this site since 2011. Mr. Darnell stated that the site had been seeded
twice, the last time was drilled about 2 years ago. Winds and dry weather have prevented adequate
vegetative growth to this point.
No equipment pertaining to the mining operations was on site. No stockpiles remain. No standing water or
accelerated erosion was noted, although some areas may collect water temporarily following storms.
The site is generally stable and in acceptable condition.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. The Operator should reseed the site and consider using mulched manure or another material to
help hold the seeds while they establish, pursuant to Rule 3.1.10(5).
i
