PART 1: GENERAL <br />1.1. Description <br />All work shall be carried out in compliance with these SPECIFICATIONS and in conformance with <br />the lines, grades, and dimensions as shown on the DRAWINGS. <br />1.2. Related Sections <br />Refer to the following Sections for related work: <br /> Section 02200.0 Earthworks <br /> Section 03300.0 Cast‐in‐place Concrete <br />2. PART 2: SPECIFICATIONS AND INSTALLATION <br />2.1. Material Specifications <br />A. Rip rap shall consist of hard, dense, and durable stone, angular in shape, and resistant <br />to weathering. Rounded stone or boulders will not be accepted as riprap material. <br />The stone shall have a specific gravity of at least 2.5. Each piece shall have its <br />greatest dimension not greater than three times its least dimension. If approved by <br />CERTIFYING ENGINEER, removed concrete may be used for riprap provided it meets <br />the other requirements of this section. <br />B. Material used for riprap will be approved by CERTIFYING ENGINEER if, by visual <br />inspection, the rock is determined to be sound and durable. MANAGER and <br />CERTIFYING ENGINEER may require CONTRACTOR to furnish laboratory results to <br />verify that the material meets SPECIFICATIONS. At the request of MANAGER, <br />CONTRACTOR shall furnish laboratory test results indicating that the material meets <br />the requirements for strength as indicated in the following table. <br />Test Description Test Method Specification Requirement <br />Point Load Tensile Strength ISRM RTH 325‐89/ASTM D5731 300 psi (min) <br /> <br />C.
