resumed, the low hydraulic conductivities of the bedrock aquifers, and the retention of monitoring
the groundwater POC well, PSCM feels that the proposed changes to the hydrology monitoring
plan are warranted. Again, it is PSCM's intention to revert back to the original (2015) monitoring
plan once mining resumes.
• Item 2. Overburden Well COV2702 and Wadge Coal Well CW2701 were retained in this TR as
they are among the closest of the two bedrock wells downgradient of the portal area. Due to the
reasons stated above (low hydraulic conductivities, the small amount of coal removed, the length
of time since mining stopped, and the length of time when mining is anticipated to resume),
annual monitoring should be sufficient to demonstrate effectively the water quality of these
aquifers. The attached water level hydrographs for these two wells indicates very little change in
water levels, with the exception of one anomalous measurement for each well in 2012. The
attached total dissolved solid (TDS) plot for Well COV2702 indicates a decreasing trend with
only 56 mg/1 difference between the minimum (554) and maximum (610) values. The attached
TDS plot for Well COV2701 indicates a decreasing trend with only 60 mg/l difference between
the minimum (850) and maximum (910) values. For these reasons demonstrated here, and in
Item 1, PSCM feels that annual monitoring of the bedrock wells is sufficient until mining
resumes.
• Item 3. No changes to this page are necessary as the proposed frequencies are suggested to be
retained.
• Item 4. Page 2.04-106 was updated with the correct name of applicant; please see the attached
revised page.
• Item 5. Pages 2.04-107 & 2.04-108 have been updated to reflect their true page numbers please
see the attached revised pages.
PSCM hopes the Division finds these responses to be adequate and helpful in making their final decision
on TR09.
