Box 460 <br />Paonia, CO 81428 <br /> <br /> <br />Re: West Elk Mine (Permit No. C-1980-007) <br /> Revision: TR-140 <br /> Revised MVB Pad and Road Locations for Longwall Panels E7 and E8. <br /> <br /> <br />Dear Sir or Madam: <br /> <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety has received an application for the above <br />referenced permitting action for the West Elk Mine. The application was deemed complete on <br />October 17, 2016. <br /> <br />Technical Revision 140 proposes to eliminate four Mine Ventilation Borehole (MVB) pads on the <br />west end of longwall panel E7, and eight on the west end of E8, together with associated spur roads. <br />Additionally, TR-140 proposes to shift eight pads on E7 to nine new locations, and six pads on E8 <br />to five new locations. The proposed new pad locations will necessitate new road segments totalling <br />approximately 2,540 feet on E7 and 3,680 feet on E8. The applicant is proposing additional <br />surface disturbance outside of the area currently approved for disturbance. <br /> <br />Permit Revision (PR), Permit Renewal (RN), or Technical Revision (TR) application materials are <br />available for review at the Gunnison County Clerk and Recorder, 221 N. Wisconsin, Suite C, <br />Gunnison, CO 81230 and at the Division’s Denver office.
