cathodic protection. Specifically,pipe sections between:a)approximately Sta. 63+00 and 69+00,
and b) approximately Sta. 94+00 and 105+00.
Response 2:
Newmont procured steel pipe that is specified for caustic service(i.e. barren solution,
cyanide solution, carbon slurry,caustic solution,natural gas,and pregnant solution).The
specifications for this pipe provide for a 0.060 inch corrosion allowance. With this added
level of protection to the pipe integrity,Newmont determined it was unnecessary to install
cathodic protection to the steel section of the pipeline. As part of our current business
practice, water flow measured at the Grassy Valley building will be compared to a portable
flow meter used at the storage tank to determine positive fresh water flow.
Comment 3: Drawings 30-605-18 and 30-605-20
The Division is concerned about access/maintenance for the section of pipe between approximately
Stir. 70+00 and 82+00, where the profile indicates there will be as much as 35 feet of fill. Please
discuss monitoring and maintenance for this section.
Response 3:
Newmont has removed the stockpile in this section of proposed pipeline. The entire pipeline
will be buried 72" to the top of the pipe. Since the depth to the pipe will be the same for the
entire pipeline length, monitoring and maintenance will also be the same.
I believe the responses above address DRMS concerns.
