To address the items of interest SPL has
provided the following responses:
1.) Please compile a plot from the existing data collected at WTC201 showing the depth to water,
Iron, Manganese and Sulfate, plotted against time.
Response:
Well WTC201 was responsible for providing water to the mine shop facilities. This well was
drilled to provide a reliable water source to the shop facilities; as a result this well is 760 feet deep.
SPC believes that because of the depth of the well, the water quality was never affected by the
mining activity. This well was operated by electricity and could only be monitored for water
quality when the power was connected. The well was sampled annually for water quality starting in
the early 1990's and was discontinued in 2014 when the power was turned off. Well WTC201 is an
artesian well with a sealed wellhead; therefore, the depth to water could not be monitored
throughout the history of the well. Attached, SPC has provided plots of Iron, Manganese and
Sulfate, plotted against time to include the life of the water quality monitoring of the well. Please
refer to plots 1, 2 and 3 attached to this submittal.
Attachments:
• Plot 1: Iron, Plot 2: Manganese, Plot 3: Sulfate
2.) Please include a commitment in the permit text that, "At least one year prior to applying for bond
release (two years is preferred), the operator will resume monitoring for the entire suite of
parameters."
Seneca Property, LLC • 29515 Routt County Road #27 • Oak Creek, Colorado 80467
Telephone (970) 870-2712
