RESPONSE: Comment noted. A Technical Revision will be submitted should certain <br /> road corridors and facilities remain after reclamation. <br /> 34. On page 12-14 of Volume I,the Applicant discusses the demolition of buildings and <br /> foundations. The Applicant states that the areas of land disturbed by these activities will be <br /> regraded,covered with suitable growth medium,and reclaimed. Please specify the amount of <br /> topsoil which will be replaced on these areas. <br /> RESPONSE. As stated in response to Adequacy Issue #9, CC&V will replace at least 6 <br /> inches of growth medium on reclaimed areas. <br /> 35. On page 12-15 of Volume 1,the Applicant discusses the demolition of buildings.The Applicant <br /> states that after demolition and salvage,remaining debris for burial will be removed to an OSA, <br /> one of the mine area backfill sites,the ESP footprint areas,or will be buried in-place and the <br /> areas will be graded and growth medium applied to the extent available prior to reclamation. <br /> Please specify the amount of topsoil which will be replaced on these areas. <br /> RESPONSE. As stated in response to Adequacy Issue #9, at least 6 inches of growth <br /> medium will be placed on reclaimed areas including building sites. <br /> 36. Please provide more detailed information on how the burial of demolished facilities and <br /> foundations will be handled to minimize void spaces and future settling. Please clarify that all <br /> material disposed of on-site will be inert. <br /> RESPONSE. All material left on site will be inert. Newmont will follow standard <br /> reclamation practices for burying demolition materials to minimize void spaces and <br /> potential for future settling. <br /> 6.4.6 EXHIBIT F—RECLAMATION PLAN MAP <br /> 37. Drawing F-1: Approximate Post Mining Topography(Rev. 2)contains large areas without <br /> contour lines within the reclaimed mine areas. Please submit an updated Drawing F-1 which <br /> shows the entire post-mining topography of the mine area. Please include elevation labels on <br /> specific contour lines at various portions on the map. <br /> RESPONSE. The post mining topography shown on Drawing F-1 is correct. <br /> Elevation labels have been added to the drawing. A revised Drawing F-1 is provided in <br /> Attachment 3. <br /> 6.4.8 EXHIBIT H—WILDLIFE INFORMATION <br /> 38. Please update the Colorado Division of Wildlife(CDOW)references in the Appendix 14 <br /> Wildlife Protection Plan in Volume IV to reflect the current state agency,Colorado Park& <br /> Wildlife(CPW). <br /> RESPONSE: All references made to the Colorado Division of Wildlife (CDOW), have <br /> been updated to reflect the current state agency, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW). <br /> 39. Please update the Section II Preventative Measures within Respective Acres of Activity of the <br /> Wildlife Protection Plan to include the High Grade Mill and underground mining area/portal. <br /> RESPONSE: The High Grade Mill(HGM), is considered to be an enclosed process <br /> area, and is covered under section "2.5 Buildings and Administrative Areas"of the <br /> Wildlife Protection Plan (WPP). Similarly, the underground mining area and portal is <br /> considered in section "2.3 Mine Areas and Other Excavations or Disturbances. " <br /> Page 12 of 14 <br />
