(SCC) is responsible for the reclamation of the Roadside North and <br />South Portals under Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (DRMS), Permit No. C-1981-041. <br />The operator ceased mining in December, 1999. <br />One provision of the DRMS' Rules is that the mine be bonded for the estimated reclamation cost. <br />SCC has formally requested a bond release from the DRMS asking that approximately 13.6 acres <br />of reclaimed surface lands and 0.2 acres of undisturbed surface lands be partially or completely <br />released from the bond. A surety bond in the amount of $805,953 is currently in place, of which <br />approximately $58,632 is being requested for release. In accordance with the Division's Rule <br />3.03.2(1), SCC is required to send written notice of its bond release request to adjacent land <br />owners, surface owners and various local governing bodies. <br />The bond release is being requested for the Roadside Mines, North and South Portals, and are <br />located approximately three miles northeast of Palisade, CO at the Interstate 70, Cameo Exit No. <br />46. The areas SCC is requesting bond release on are the Roadside North Portal permanent <br />drainage features, reclaimed ponds 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 & 13, portions of Cameo Refuse Disposal <br />Area #1, Cameo Borrow Areas #1 & #2 and Substation G. Portions of the areas requested for <br />release have been undermined. The area locations are more particularly described as follows: <br />Township 10 South, Range 98 West, 6th P.M., Mesa County, CO <br />Portions of Sections 27, 28 & 34 - <br />All work has been performed in accordance with plans approved by the DRMS. <br />Sincerely, <br />Tonya K.
