iCOLORADO <br />Division of Reclamation, <br />Mining and Safety <br />Department of Natural Resources <br />1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />August 4, 2016 <br />Shannon V.Johnson <br />Division of Water Resources <br />1313 Sherman Street, Room 818 <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />Re: Bowie No.1 Mine (Permit No. C-1981-038) <br />Technical Revision No. 61 (TR -61) <br />Hydrologic Monitoring Plan Change <br />Dear Ms. Johnson: <br />AUG 09 2016 <br />WATER RESOURCES <br />STATE ENGINEER COLO. <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, <br />Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on August 4, 2016 an <br />application to revise coal mining operations at the Bowie No. 1 Mine was considered complete for <br />the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by Bowie Resources, LLC. All review and <br />comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />Technical Revision No. 61 (TR -61) submitted by Bowie Resources, LLC. (BRL) proposes to <br />suspend the monitoring stations no longer considered necessary associated with the Bowie No. 1 <br />Mine hydrologic monitoring plan. BRL requests to permanently suspend 10 groundwater <br />monitoring sites and 14 surface water monitoring sites. In addition, BRL requests to change the <br />monitoring frequency of two surface water monitoring sites. The applicant is not proposing <br />additional surface disturbance outside of the area currently approved for disturbance. <br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 3 miles North of Paonia. <br />The permit area is further described as follows: <br />In all or portions of the following: <br />Sections 1, 2, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 22, 23, 24, and 25 Township 13 South, Range 92 West of <br />the 6th P.M. and <br />Sections 17, 18, 19, 29, 30, 31, and 32 of Township 13 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M. <br />1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3567 F 303.832.8106 http://mining.state.co.us <br />John W.
