Transit Mix Concrete Co.
supply. Static water levels appear to be at depths greater than 70 feet, and were reported several
hundred feet deep in several of the wells.
Groundwater in western portion of the Hitch Rack Ranch occurs as near surface waters contained
within the weathered zone and deep groundwater limited to fractures in the basement rock.
There are no groundwater water wells or water monitoring wells within the proposed disturbance
area located in Section 16 of the property. Groundwater was not identified during exploratory
drilling. Drilling was completed with the use of biodegradable drilling fluids, referred to as drilling
mud, which is a standard practice. This drilling mud impedes the flow of water between the
borehole and the surrounding rock mass, but it does not prevent gains or losses of borehole fluids
when an aquifer is encountered. Groundwater wells are present in the valley bottoms upstream
of the Little Turkey Creek in Section 17, and the water levels in these wells are similar to the
creek elevation suggesting the ground water table is at the Little Turkey Creek elevation. All
mining will occur above the Little Turkey Creek elevation; therefore, the deep groundwater
system is not expected to be reached or impacted.
This aggregate operation will be developed within a deposit of inert granitic rock and no acid-
forming or toxic producing materials were identified during the exploratory drilling and sampling
program; therefore, no release of pollutants to groundwater is expected.
Hitch Rack Ranch Quarry Permit Application M-2016-010
September 26, 2016 G-22
