, <br />COLORADO <br />Parks and Wildlife <br />Department of Natural Resources <br />Northwest Regional Office <br />711 Independent Avenue <br />Grand Junction, CO 81505 <br />September 27, 2016 <br />Mr. Zach Trujillo <br />Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety <br />1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />RE: CPW's comments for the Colowyo Coal Mine South Taylor Pit Minor Revision No. 160 <br />(MR -160) <br />Dear Mr. Trujillo: <br />Thank you for giving Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) the opportunity to provide comments <br />for the Colowyo Coal Mine South Taylor Pit Minor Revision No. 160 (MR -160). <br />CPW has reviewed the application, and it is our understanding that, if MR -160 is approved and <br />implemented, the applicant would add an additional nine drill hole locations within the South <br />Taylor Pit, and all the drill holes proposed under this minor revision would be mined during <br />the normal progression of the South Taylor Pit. At this time, CPW does not anticipate the <br />proposed activities associated with MR -160 will directly affect wildlife species that occupy <br />portions of the Colowyo Coal Mine either seasonally or year-round. Moreover, CPW does not <br />recommend any additional site-specific mitigation. <br />CPW appreciates the opportunity to provide comments for the Colowyo Coal Mine South <br />Taylor Pit Minor Revision No. 160.
