, COLORADO Parks and Wildlife Department of Natural Resources Northwest Regional Office 711 Independent Avenue Grand Junction, CO 81505 September 27, 2016 Mr. Zach Trujillo Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 Denver, CO 80203 RE: CPW's comments for the Colowyo Coal Mine South Taylor Pit Minor Revision No. 160 (MR -160) Dear Mr. Trujillo: Thank you for giving Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) the opportunity to provide comments for the Colowyo Coal Mine South Taylor Pit Minor Revision No. 160 (MR -160). CPW has reviewed the application, and it is our understanding that, if MR -160 is approved and implemented, the applicant would add an additional nine drill hole locations within the South Taylor Pit, and all the drill holes proposed under this minor revision would be mined during the normal progression of the South Taylor Pit. At this time, CPW does not anticipate the proposed activities associated with MR -160 will directly affect wildlife species that occupy portions of the Colowyo Coal Mine either seasonally or year-round. Moreover, CPW does not recommend any additional site-specific mitigation. CPW appreciates the opportunity to provide comments for the Colowyo Coal Mine South Taylor Pit Minor Revision No. 160.
