Sedimentation Ponds (Rule 4.05.6) <br />The only sedimentation pond onsite was impounding a small amount of water at the <br />time of this evaluation. The pond's embankments were well -vegetated with herbaceous <br />species and stable. The principal and emergency spillways were unobstructed and <br />stable (Figure 4). No issues were observed. <br />Topsoil Storage (Rule 4.06.3) <br />The topsoil stockpile was stable, vegetated, and featured a sediment containment berm <br />as required by the approved permit. No resource loss was observed. <br />Temporary Cessation of Operations (Rule 4.30.1) <br />The mine portals were secured as required (Figure 5). No issues were observed. <br />Maintenance items identified during inspection: <br />Stream Buffer Zone markers were not installed as required under Rule 4.02.5 or <br />maintained as required under Rule 4.02.1. The two 900 undisturbed area culvert trash <br />racks at the mine portals area were partially obstructed with sediment and require <br />maintenance. A limited number of small pieces of coal and minor sedimentation exist <br />within the Stream Buffer Zone. The operator representative committed to addressing <br />these items in short order. <br />Programmatic compliance: <br />No violations were issued as a result of this evaluation nor are any pending. <br />Photos: <br />Figure 1.
