EXHIBIT D—Mining Plan
a) Mining will utilize the following operations:
i. Remove and stockpile and existing top soil
ii. Utilize dozer to push up gravel
iii. Utilize a frontend loader to load material onto trucks.
b) The site will be mined to approximately 15-20 feet deep. If supply is abundant, mining
could go deeper. Mining will be done on an approximate 3:1 slope down to the bottom of
the pit area. Topsoil is approximately 5" in depth. The topsoil will be stripped, stockpiled,
and utilized when the pit is reclaimed.
c) There are no anticipated water diversions or impoundments. There is no surface water at
the site. When rainfall occurs, the pit area may be unworkable for a few days. Since the
use of the pit is intermittent, we will be able to work around those occurrences.
d) Our intent is to work approximately one-half of the new area at a time.
e) Sand and gravel will be mined over the entire pit area. Topsoil will be stockpiled to the
north side of the pit prior to commencement of mining. The area north of the creek in the
expanded area will be mined first. Mining will proceed from the creek northward. The
southern portion of the expanded area will be the last portion mined. Excavation will
continue as gravel is needed for local road operations and as the supply remains available.
It is anticipated that mining will be from 15-20 feet deep, but if supply is abundant, mining
could go deeper. Some stockpiling may be done at the site, but most of the gravel will be
utilized as it is mined. Any stockpiling that does occur will parallel the creek bed so as not to
restrict flow. No processing of material is anticipated in the pit. The pit will continue to
operate annually. The supply is undetermined, but is expected to last indefinitely because
of the limited use of the pit. Mining will begin as soon as all the proper permits are
obtained.
i. Since the pit will be used on an intermittent basis, it is difficult to estimate the time
it will take to mine the new area. We are estimating it will take ten years to mine
the pit.
ii. Area 3 will be approximately 4 acres and is located on the northern portion of the
pit. Area 4 will be 5.9 acres and is located south of area number 3.
iii. Newly added areas 5 and 6 will be the expansion Area 5 is approximately 2.0 acres
and is located the northern portion of the pit. Area 6 will be 8.2 acres and is located
south of area number 5.
