,r
Transit Mix Concrete Co.
drilling. Drilling was completed with the use of biodegradable drilling fluids, referred to as drilling
mud, which is a standard practice. This drilling mud impedes the flow of water between the
borehole and the surrounding rock mass, but it does not prevent gains or losses of borehole fluids
when an aquifer is encountered. Groundwater wells are present in the valley bottoms upstream
of the Little Turkey Creek in Section 17, and the water levels in these wells are similar to the
creek elevation suggesting the ground water table is at the Little Turkey Creek elevation. All
mining will occur above the Little Turkey Creek elevation; therefore, the deep groundwater
system is not expected to be reached or impacted.
This aggregate operation will be developed within a deposit of inert granitic rock and no acid-
forming or toxic producing materials were identified during the exploratory drilling and sampling
program; therefore, no release of pollutants to groundwater is expected.
Hitch Rack Ranch Quarry Permit Application M-2016-010
September 15, 2016 G-22
