Suggestions for Reclamation
-Goal is to contour the site's disturbance and establish a durable drainage (whether by incision or fill)that will carry water which has been pooling in the
basin below the staging area to a pre-existing stream channel. This channel has been modified during the course of the operations to include several
stormwater ponds that inhibit the water's ability to flow to the Arkansas River, and will need to be removed.
-Drainage should be established across/around the present staging area, so that it may link with the pre-existing channel to the northwest.
-Need to cut through stormwater ponds, and armor the drainage. Loose material from this area could be used as fill in the basin below the staging area.
-Drainage from the northeastern most stormwater pond should be directed across the access road so it may join the larger drainage to the east.
-The access road was established for the operations and is not maintained by BLM, thus it should be reclaimed as well.
-Highwall will need to be pushed to a 3:1 slope, and remaining fill could be used on the contour area below (above basin)to blend with the surrounding contour.
-Highwall reclamation will likely involve the removal of the small trees atop the highwall in order to improve equipment access from the southwest.
-Stair-step topography below the highwall should be cut smooth to a 3:1 (or better) slope.
-Reclamation Plan on file: 3:1 slope, no remaining highwalls, re-seed after spreading topsoil.
