Danny Kipp, Bob Moline and
Mark Quincy all of Coors Energy were present during the inspection, as was Eric Jacobs of the Colorado
Department of Health and Environment (CDPHE). Skies had high clouds, and temperatures reached the low 70
degrees F. This inspection focused on groundwater sampling.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE- Rule 4.05
General Requirements 4.05.1; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13;

Groundwater monitoring is typically carried out in April and September. The September 2016 sampling of the 6
ground water monitoring wells was observed. Two samples are collected from each well. A Hanna multi meter
was utilized for sampling the following field parameters:
1. Temperature in degrees Celsius (C).
2. Electrical Conductivity
3. pH
4. Static water level

The monitoring procedure followed is outlined below:

1. Measure static water elevation in well.
2. Bail the well five times using a one liter bailer and rinse sampling equipment (funnel and field sample
bottle) with the fifth bailer volume.
3. Clean probe for field sample parameters with distilled water.
4. Sample for field parameters, and fill lab sample bottles on sixth bail.
5. Evacuate the well with the submersible pump.
6. Measure static water elevation.
7. Bail the well five times, rinse apparatus and sample for field parameters on sixth bail.
8. Fill out chain of custody and transport sample to office refrigerator for storage until taken to lab.
No washing of the pump, pump hose and bailer took place between sampling.
The monitoring protocol is described in Section 2.04.03 of the permit document.
