reclamation slope area. Other areas subject to traffic loading have cover in excess of 1 foot.
The outlet pipes will have heavy duty flap gates to allow flow out of the reservoir only.
No estimate for capacity was made due to the unpredictability of flow in the area and its location within a floodplain.
Flows through the culverts will be dependent on the difference in water surface elevations on either side of the
culvert. Topographic survey, provided by Aggregate Industries on August 22, 2016, showed that the current water
surface elevation within Bull Seep near the downstream end of the outlet pipes was at elevation 5036.61.
Improvements further downstream on the Bull Seep may be required to allow for drainage of Hazeltine Reservoir
through the outlet pipes.
The pipe is bedded in flowable fill for better compaction than soil under the pipe haunches, reducing the risk of
seepage along the conduit, which can cause embankment failure when water surfaces in the reservoir are elevated.
Compacted overburden (and/or other materials)with a minimum 40% passing the No. 200 sieve classifying as CL,
CH, or SC soils may be used for backfill above the top of flowable fill. Backfill would be compacted to 95% of the
standard proctor density.
Attachments: Calculations
Plan-set
P:\23514\133-23514-16002\Docs\Memos\Orr Property\160824 Orr Drain Memo.docx
