PERMIT#: M-1979-165
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
INSPECTION DATE:August 30,2016
OBSERVATIONS
This was a final release (SR) inspection for the remaining 1.8 acres of the Frei Pit#3. The release of this area
was previously denied due to erosion issues on the berm along the west and north portion of this area. The post-
mining land use for this area is industrial/commercial and the approved reclamation plan is for a gravel lot.
This area is adjacent to an active asphalt and concrete recycling yard.
SL02 was received by the DRMS on August 12, 2016 and the appropriate release notices were mailed by the
Division on August 16, 2016. This inspection was conducted by Eric Scott of DRMS who met on site by
permittee Ben Frei and his consultant Steve O'Brian. Adams County representative Jennifer Rutter was also
present for the inspection. As can be seen in the attached photos, this remaining 1.8 acre area has been
reclaimed according to the approved post-mining land use as a gravel lot, and is currently in use by the
recycling facility. The earth berm appears to be stable with no erosion issues. Although the vegetation (alfalfa
and grasses) has died out for the 2016 growing season it appears to be largely weed free, and will continue to
fill in if appropriately managed by the property owner(Frei). DRMS therefore considers the reclamation
requirements for this site have been satisfied and will approve the final release of the Frei Pit#3 as soon as the
public comment period has elapsed.
Inspection Contact Address
Ben Frei
Albert Frei&Sons Inc.
11521 Brighton Rd
Henderson,CO 80640
