1998 ANNUAL RECLAMATION REPORT
FOIDEL CREEK MINE
PERMIT C-82-056
This report addresses the surface disturbances associated with the underground mining operations
conducted by Twentymile Coal Company (TCC) and identifies and describes the status of
reclaimed areas resulting from activities occurring in 1998. TCC currently mines federal, state
and private coal reserves in Routt County, Colorado. Coal extraction is accomplished by utilizing
a retreating longwall system; therefore surface disturbances are limited to surface support facilities
consisting of relatively small acreages. The surface support facilities in the immediate vicinity of
the mine portals are addressed as a contiguous area.
Currently, TCC is responsible for disturbances consisting of the locations listed on Table 1, and
shown on the 1998 TwentymAe Coal Company Annual Reclamation Maps. When reclamation
at the designated idle sites commences, TCC will follow the approved reclamation plan found in
Permit C-82-056 using the approved seed mixtures.
1998 RECLAMATION
The disturbed acreage shown for the surface facilities in the 1998 Annual Reclamation Report is
460 acres. This acreage increased by 2.7 acres during 1998.
Approximately 1.2 acres of additional disturbance associated with the Trout Creek Sandstone Test
Hole site and the transfer of"Trudy's Corner" of 1.5 acres is reported for 1998. When no longer
needed these sites will be reclaimed per plan presented in TCC's permit.
Several areas were disturbed prior to 1998 and remain Twentymile Coal Company's responsibility.
These locations are included in Table 1 and shown on the 1998 Annual Reclamation Report maps.
These locations include the Sandstone Substation, Fish Creek Tipple, Fish Creek Borehole, TCC
Surface Facilities, Coal Refuse Pile, Southwest Borehole, Drill Pad 95M001, EMD Vent Shaft,
Escape Shaft, Rock Dust Tank, 9 Rt and 10 Rt Barricade Chambers, Rockfall Mitigation Trench
and Berm Structures, Lieske Substation and 8 & 7 Right Cross-Panel Entry Backfill. Also, the
1998 areas were added to Table 1, and they are Trout Creek Sandstone Test Holes site and
Facilities Alteration (Trudy's Corner).
