We note that CDRMS is proposing a combination of
Phase I, II, and III release of 132.36 acres associated with various areas pertaining to drill pad,
temporary road, pipeline, gob pile, and vent shaft reclamation.
We have determined that of the 132.36 acres the lands managed by the Uncompahgre Field
Office, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) total approximately 8.2 acres. The coal mined was
a combination of federal mineral estate managed by the BLM and private coal.
The acres included in the bond release area had improvements that served their useful purpose
and were no longer necessary since the associated coal resource had been mined out and the
mined out areas had been abandoned. In addition, the reclamation appears to be properly carried
out as reported.
Because the reclamation has been shown to be successful the BLM has no objection to the Bond
Release. If you have any questions please contact Desty Dyer at 970-240-5302.
Sincerely,
Dana Wilson
Acting Field Office Manager
CC Christine Belka, Office of Surface Mining
Bill Bear, Bowie Resources
