Seeding, Planting, and Weed Control Plan. <br /> Seed mix for broadcast seeding on seedbed soil (maximum compaction 80%of SPD at OMC): <br /> Common Name Scientific Name Lbs W pure live seed <br /> Brome, Smooth Bromus inermis 12.40# PLS/ac <br /> Wheatgrass, intermediate Thinopyrum intermedium 15.00# PLS/ac <br /> Annual Rye Lolium multiflorum [Nurse crop 5.00# PLS/ac <br /> Seeding to be done only on slopes and not in roadways or drainageways (3.5 acres). Immediately <br /> following seeding, apply hydromulch per manufacturer's recommendations. (If hydromulch is not <br /> available, apply 2,000 pounds per acre of clean, weedfree straw mulch or aspen wood excelsior <br /> blanket. <br /> Transplant of selected shrubs and small specimen trees from adjacent areas of the Helmericks <br /> property to be done on a basis of 1/1500 square feet (120 plants total)to be done AFTER grass is <br /> established. Species may vary based on availability, but are expected to include a mix of pinyon <br /> (Pinus edulis), juniper (Juniperus scopulorum and Junperus communis), ponderosa (Pinus ponderosa), <br /> scrub oak(Quercus gambelii), Bearberry (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi), mountain mahogany(Cercocarpus <br /> montanus), and rabbitbrush (Chrysothamnus nauseosus). <br /> Weed control: <br /> Primary: seeding with annual rye, followed by weekly inspection (coordinate with storm water and <br /> slope stability inspections). Weed inspections to be done on 1 May, 15 June, 15 July, and 15 <br /> September and documented on La Plata County forms. <br /> Secondary: mechanical: removal of thistle and other weeds before seeding. <br /> Tertiary: limited application of herbicides in areas where trees and shrubs are not present.
