Peabody Sage Creek Mining, LLC
Page 7
8/25/2016
Mercury monitoring is no longer required for PSCM's
outfalls.
10. Interim Narrative
CWQCC regulation 41
It was determined that bedrock groundwater points of
Standard for Ground
compliance are unwarranted at the PSCM mine. Well
Water
SGAL70 serves as the PSCM Grassy Creek Alluvial
groundwater point of compliance. This wells was
approved to be the groundwater point of compliance well
for the original Seneca 11 mine (see TR -47 and
Attachment 7-3 of the C-1980-005 permit for details).
Table 7 of the AHR provides the Ground Water Point of
Compliance Standards for the SGAL70 Alluvial Well.
Upon review of the 2015 data for SGAL70, none of the
standards from Table 7 were exceeded with the exception
of Cadmium. On September 8, 2015 the Cadmium level
was reported to be <10 ug/1. The Table 7 standard for
Cadmium is 5 ug/l. The Reg. 41 standard to Cadmium is
10 ug/l. Given this, it appears the level reported for
Cadmium at well SGAL70 is below the CWQCC
Regulation 41 standard.
11. Sampling frequency
Volume 1, p. 2.04-107
All required sampling frequencies were met with the
at surface water
of CDRMS mining
exception noted below:
permit C-2009-087
• SSPG6 was not monitored as required. PSCM
indicates this spring was final bond released and
therefore did not need to be sampled. This spoil
spring has not been bond released and will
need to continue to be sampled. The Division
is currently reviewing Technical Revision No. 9
for the PSCM which is modifying the currently
approved monitoring plan.
• SSPG7 was not monitored. According to the
PSCM 2015 AHR, this spring no longer exists.
The Division is currently reviewing Technical
Revision No. 9 for the PSCM which is modifying
the currently approved monitoring plan.
12. Parameters to be
Volume 1, p. 2.04-108
All required parameters were analyzed with the exception
sampled at surface
of CDRMS mining
noted below:
water sites
permit C-2009-087
