The operator, Loveland Ready Mix, Inc. (LRM),
is applying for the amendment to change the post-mining use of a portion of the Green/Croissant
Sand and Gravel Mine. No other changes are anticipated at this time.
The westerly portion of the permitted area located on LRM property contains a concrete batch
plant, aggregate processing facilities, and returned concrete processing facilities. The easterly
portion located on leased property is an active mine furnishing aggregates to the batch plant.
Aggregates are also imported from the nearby Walters/Bokelman pit in Larimer County. The pit
on the easterly property will be mined out in approximately five years and the Walters/Bokelman
pit in about 15 years, depending on market conditions. LRM would like to change the permitted
reclamation plan to allow continued operation of the batch plant and appurtenant facilities on
the west side in perpetuity following cessation of mining in the easterly and Walters/Bokelman
mines. Reclamation of the east portion of the property will comprise ponds and wildlife areas.
The current DRMS 112 permit allows post-mining uses comprising large lot residential, wildlife
habitat, and potential commercial development in the northwest corner of the parcel. DRMS
conducted an annual inspection in December, 2015. Following the inspection, DRMS issued an
Inspection Report which stated, among other things, that the change in post-mining land use to
industrial/commercial would require a permit amendment in accordance with Rule 1.10.
The attached permit amendment document follows the format in the Colorado Mined Land
Reclamation Board Rules and Regulations for the Extraction of Construction Materials.
Please call or email either Mr. McDermid or Mr. Friess with any questions at the phone numbers
or email addresses shown above.
Sincerely;
Consulting Civil & Water Resources Engineering, LLC d2CAD Consulting, LLC
Ramsay M.
