The design for the additional temporary
fresh water line tie-in in Grassy Valley was developed in response to a failure of a fresh water
pipeline identified by Newmont on May 23, 2016.
Pipe Route
For your reference please see an overview of the proposed pipeline in Figure 1:
• The fresh water source will originate from the Grassy Valley pipeline;
• Temporary pipeline tie-in to the Grassy Valley pipeline will occur at the location
indicated by the red star in Figure 1
• Water will be conveyed in the temporary pipeline using 1,200 feet of 10" High Density
Polyethylene (HDPE) pipe; and
• Water will be conveyed through a portable water fill stand to allow water to be loaded
into the water truck and hauled to the Mill.
Warranty Estimate
CC&V used the 2016 RS Means costs for calculating the increase in reclamation cost. The RS
Means estimate for "Utility removal, pipe, sewer/water, 12' diameter remove,"(2016 RSMeans
#02 41 13.23.3000) is $7.79 per linear foot for a total of $9,348.00. A 22% contingency was
added to the RS Means demolition cost $2,056.56. The RS Means "B-20" crew was used at 2
hours labor (based off of Davis-Bacon wage rates) resulting in a total of $373.76 for removal of
the water fill station. The project in whole will increase the reclamation costs by a total of
$11,778.32.
pig
