The
proposed revision includes eliminating monitoring of several spoil spring sties, suspending
monitoring of several wells while the mine is idle, modifying the frequency for bedrock and
alluvial well monitoring, discontinuing monitoring at Pond 004 (two additional upstream
monitoring points have been initiated), and adding a qualifier that certain monitoring
parameters will only be measured if the flow is less than 1 gallon per minute at all stream and
spring monitoring sites. At this time, CPW does not anticipate the proposed revision will
directly affect wildlife species associated with the Peabody Sage Creek Mine while it is idle.
Moreover, CPW does not recommend any additional site-specific mitigation for Technical
Revision No. 9.
CPW appreciates the opportunity to provide comments for the Peabody Sage Creek Mine
Technical Revision No. 9. For additional information or to request clarification on CPW's
comments, please contact Brett Smithers, Land Use Specialist, at 970-878-6069.
Kris Middledorf, Area Wildlife Manager
Cc.
