L.G. EVERIST, INC.
ROCK.SOLID SINCE 1876 7321 E. 88TH AvENUE, SUITE 200
HENDERSON, COLORADO 80640
IN
PHONE 303-287-9606 • FAx 303-289-1348
August 12, 2016
Weld County Public Works
Attention: Clay Kimmi
PO Box 758
Greeley, CO 80632
RE: Lehr Gravel Pit, Permit M-1983-213
Located in Section 1, Township 10N, Range 67 West,Weld County
Dear Mr. Kimmi:
This letter is in response to Weld County's Lehr Gravel Pit Release Request and subsequent DRMS inspection of
June 30, 2016, requiring a Technical Revision (TR) to the County's permit.
For Reference - L.G. Everist, Inc. is the landowner of the property where Weld County's Lehr Gravel Pit is
located. L.G. Everist is the owner/operator of the Carr Gravel Resource, Permit, M-1988-048, located adjacent to
the Lehr Pit in Section 1, and continuing north into Section 35, Township 11N, Range 67 West, Weld County.
Access Road
As landowner of the parcel on which the Lehr Pit is located, and also with our mining and transload operations,
we utilize the access road which goes through the Lehr Pit as an alternate access point into our operations to the
north. In 2011, L.G. Everist amended its DRMS permit, updating various aspects of the reclamation plan,
including keeping this interior access road. The access road is shown on L.G. Everist's Reclamation Plan Map.
The access road is needed for continued landowner access, even after mining is complete. Therefore, L.G.
Everist agrees with and appreciates the change which Weld County is submitting as part of their TR to have the
road kept as part of their reclamation plan.
Revegetation
L.G. Everist and Weld County representatives have discussed the Revegetation issues and suggested corrective
actions listed in the DRMS's inspection report. We understand that it may take a while to establish sustainable
vegetation that is acceptable to the DRMS for final release.
Thank you for sharing the revegetation seed mix of native grasses which the County will be utilizing on the site.
The seed mix is satisfactory in our opinion, but of course up to the DRMS to approve. L.G. Everist understands
that the exact seed mix may not be available at the time of seeding, and that a similar variety may be substituted
to round out the mix.
Thank you for also sharing the comprehensive Weed Control Plan which the County will be utilizing on the site.
L.G. Everist realizes that there are weeds present on site, however, we also realize that it is impossible to be
weed-free on any property in Colorado, as seeds can blow into one's property from anywhere. L.G. Everist feels
that the Weed Control Plan aptly addresses the proper suppression and management of various weed species
which may or may not be present on site. However, as with the seed mix, we realize that approval of the Weed
Control Plan is up to the DRMS.
If there is anything else you need from us for the County's DRMS Technical Revision, please let us know. Lynn
can be reached at 303-286-2247 or Imshults@lgeverist.com.
Sincerely
pt>
Lynn Mayer Shults
Regulatory Manager
WELD-LehrPit-DRMS=rRLetter-toWeld-ALig2016.docx
