EXHIBIT E - Reclamation Plan Revision
Inspection Topic—Reclamation Success
As stated in Exhibit E of the original permit application dated February 10, 1984 on page 17, the post-mining land
use will be open rangeland. The application materials state "... Then, the disturbed portion of the area, except for
the access road, will be re-seeded in accordance with the recommended site revegetation plan."
This statement indicates the access/haul road was to remain in place at the conclusion of mining. It is Weld
County's opinion that a technical revision is not required to address the presence of the haul road and the
requirement imposed by the Inspection Report. However, since a technical revision is required to change the seed
mix, Weld County is including an updated reclamation map to clarify the presence of the access/haul road on the
reclamation map.
The landowner has supplied a letter stating they wish to keep the access/haul road because it has been approved in
their gravel pit permit M-1988-048. A copy of the letter from the landowner is included with this technical revision
request.
Inspection Topic-Reve eg tation
The original permit application dated February 10, 1984 on page 21 shows the reclamation seed mix to be:
Sideoats Grama 4.5 lbs PLS/ac
Blue Grama 0.9 lbs PLS/ac
Little Bluestem 1.4 lbs PLS/ac
Total 6.8 lbs PLS/ac
Based on discussions with the Weld County Weed Control Division Supervisor, Tina Booton, Weld County would
like to modify the reclamation seed mix to the following mix:
Buffalo Grass 4.5 lbs PLS/ac
Blue Grama 3.0 lbs PLS/ac
Sideoats Grama 2.0 lbs PLS/ac
Green Needlegrass 1.0 lbs PLS/ac
Switchgrass 1.0 lbs PLS/ac
Little Bluestem 1.0 lbs PLS/ac
Western Wheatgrass 1.5 lbs PLS/ac
Crested Wheatgrass 1.0 lbs PLS/ac
Total: 15.0 lbs PLS/ac
Please note that the above seed mix may not be available at the time of seeding and a similar seed mix may be
substituted or omitted.
The above seed mix was used to seed the site in the fall of 2013. Additionally, the landowner has reviewed the seed
mix and finds it to be acceptable. A copy of the letter from the landowner is included with this technical revision
request.
It should be noted that in addition to the species in the seed mix, there are a variety of other plant species present on
site which were not in the seed mix. These plant species have been blown in, volunteered, or otherwise migrated
into the mine area. These plant species include but are not limited to:
