Public Notice <br />Snowcap Coal Company, P.O. Box 1430, Palisade, CO 81526, has submitted a complete application for a <br />Phase If & III bond release to the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety for its Roadside North and South <br />Portal Mines, Mining Permit No. C-1981-041. The permit was originally approved on January 3, 1983 and <br />renewed on January 3, 2013. A corporate surety bond in the amount of $805,953 is currently in place, of <br />which $58,632 is being requested for release. The application is requesting the release of approximately 13.6 <br />acres of reclaimed surface lands and 0.2 acres of undisturbed surface lands at Snowcap Coal Company's <br />Roadside North and South Mines. <br />The Roadside Mines are located approximately three miles northeast of Palisade, CO at the Interstate 70, <br />Cameo Exit No. 46. The specific areas to which this bond release request applies is included within the Permit <br />Boundary and are located as follows: <br />T1 OS, R98W, 6t" P.M. <br />Section 27: Portions of S%2SW% <br />Section 28: Portions of SE% <br />Section 34: Portions of SW% and portions of NE%NE% <br />Reclamation work on these areas was performed from 2002 through 2014. Phase II release is being <br />requested on a portion of CRDA #1 and Substation G. Topsoil was placed and sufficient vegetation <br />established to support the approved postmining land use. Phase II and III release is being requested on <br />permanent drainage features and all reclaimed sedimentation ponds. Required topsoil was placed and <br />sufficient vegetation established to adequately control erosion. All work has been performed in accordance <br />with plans approved by the Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety. <br />A copy of the bond release application is available for public inspection at the Mesa County Clerk and <br />Recorder's office, 200 S. Spruce, Grand Junction, CO. Copies of the approved permit application document, <br />as well as the bond release application, are available at the Denver office of the Division of Reclamation, <br />Mining and Safety [Room 215, 1313 Sherman St., Denver, CO 80203, (303) 866-3567]. Written comments or <br />objections to the proposed release, and a request for a public hearing or informal conference may be <br />submitted to and additional information obtained from the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety. <br />Comments, objections or requests for a public hearing or informal conference must be submitted to the <br />Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety within thirty (30) days of the last publication of this notice or within <br />thirty (30) days of the completed bond release inspection, whichever is later. <br />
