No company representative accompanied me on the inspection.
The North Thompson Creek Mine is a reclaimed site that has undergone a full Phase III Bond Release on all but
4.1 acres. The weather was warm and cloudy and there were intermittent rain showers.

AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS – Rule 5.02.4(1):
- All of the required records were available in the Clerk and Recorder’s Office at the Garfield County Courthouse.
Please see the Availability of Records form at the end of this inspection report for more details.

HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05: Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5,
4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring
4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Drainage – Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6,
4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
- There was discharge coming from both the Mine #1 and Mine #3 pipes at the time of the inspection. This
discharge flows into the Long Pond. The long pond was well vegetated and stable and no erosional problems were
noted in the pond.
-Treatment Ponds #1 and #2 were both full and discharging at the time of the inspection. TP #1 discharges into TP
#2 and TP #2 discharges into pond P-9. Both pond embankments were well vegetated and stable and no erosional
problems were noted at the time of the inspection. There was no evidence of any iron precipitation (“yellow boy”)
in or around either of the treatment ponds.
- Ponds P-9 and the Refuse Pile Pond are both used for water storage. Pond P-9 was full and water was
discharging into the Refuse Pile Pond (which had several feet of water in it). Both Pond embankments were well
vegetated and stable and no erosional problems were noted on either pond at the time of the inspection.
- The discharge from the Mine #3 was entering the manhole along the Forest Service Road. The discharge then
enters a PVC pipe and discharges into the Long Pond.
