STATE OF
COLORADO Scott -DNR, Eric <eric.scott@state.co.us>
40
pH Update for POC Well GW#2 at Climax Mine
1 message
Hilshorst, Aaron <ahilshor@fmi.com> Tue, Aug 9, 2016 at 3:53 PM
To: "Scott - DNR, Eric" <eric.scott@state.co.us>
Cc: "Lazuk, Raymond" <dazuk@fmi.com>
Eric,
As I mentioned in my email to you last Thursday, August 4th, we had a pH NPL exceedance at our POC Well GW#2 with
a measurement of 5.93. We resampled GW#2 earlier today to collect a confirmatory sample and, once the field
parameters stabilized, the pH measurement was 6.55.
We have seen pH fluctuations as this well in the past and, I believe, this is just another example of that. With the
confirmatory sample coming in above the NPL for GW#2 we will return to the normal quarterly monitoring frequency for
this sample location.
If you have any questions, or require further information, please let me know.
Thanks,
Aaron
Aaron Hilshorst
Sr. Environmental Engineer
Climax Molybdenum
A Freeport-McMoRan Company
Climax Mine
Highway 91 —Fremont Pass
Climax, CO 80429
(719) -486 -7678—Office
(719) -209 -8249—Mobile
