COLORADO
b
De
partment of Public
Health & Environment
Dedicated to protecting and improving the health and environment of the people of Colorado
Mr. Ben Moline
Coors Energy Company
PO Box 467
Golden, CO 80402
July 29, 2016
Re: Routine Compliance Inspection
Keenesburg Ash Disposal Facility
Weld County
SW WLD COO 1.2
Dear Mr. Moline,
RECEIVED
AUG 0 8 2016
UVW}
N OR RECLAMATION
A*iINGAND S;;wE7y
On July 28, 2016 representatives from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (Department),
Hazardous Materials and Waste Management Division (Division) inspected the Keenesburg Ash Disposal Facility. The
purpose of the inspection was to evaluate the facility's compliance status with respect to the Solid Waste Disposal Sites
and Facilities Act, CRS 30-20-100.5 et.seq. (the Act), the Regulations Pertaining to Solid Waste Sites and Facilities, 6
CCR 1007-2 (the Regulations) and the approved plans for the facility.
Per our conversation during the July 28, 2016 inspection, the Division understands that fly ash and bottom ash are no
Longer being disposed at the Keenesburg Ash Disposal Facility because the Coors brewery boilers have recently been
converted to using natural gas as a fuel instead of coal. Additionally, the Division understands that that the remaining
air space in B pit is to be filled with on site spoils to be capped with a final cover in about three (3) years from now.
Based on the information obtained and the observations made during the inspection, the facility was determined to be
operating in compliance with the Act, the Regulations and the approved plans on the date of the inspection.
For details on what specific activities or provisions were evaluated during the inspection please refer to the Notice of
Inspection and corresponding inspection checklist enclosed with this letter.
If you should have any questions regarding the inspection or this correspondence, please feel free to contact Doug
Ikenberry at 303-692-3389.
Sincerely,
Douglas M.
