AM
STATE O F
COLORADO Scott-DNR, Eric <eric.scott@state.co.us>
Notification of pH Measurement at POC Well GW#2
1 message
Hilshorst, Aaron <ahilshor@fmi.com> Thu, Aug 4, 2016 at 11:28 AM
To: "Scott-DNR, Eric" <edc.scott@state.co.us>
Cc: "Lazuk, Raymond" <riazuk@fmi.com>
Eric,
Thank you for returning my phone call yesterday. As you requested in our most recent conversation, I'm providing this
notification with regard to a recent pH measurement that fell below the NPL limit for POC well GW#2. This is the shallow
POC well located at the north end of the Climax property, just across from the access gate on Old Highway 91.
On the afternoon of Wednesday, August 3rd, a water sample was collected at POC well GW#2. The well was purged
until field parameters stabilized and a water sample was collected. When the field parameters stabilized, pH was
measured at 5.93—below the low limit of 6.5 for the NPL at this location. Initial notification was made you by phone
message shortly after 3:00pm on August 3rd. We are anticipating sampling this well again to collect a pH measurement
within the next week or so.
As you're aware, we've had low pH readings at this well in the past but all confirmatory sampling has been within the
range of the NPL. We will keep you informed on the upcoming sample event and notify you accordingly.
Please let me know If you have any further questions.
Thank you,
Aaron
Aaron Hilshorst
Sr. Environmental Engineer
Climax Molybdenum
A Freeport-McMoRan Company
Climax Mine
Highway 91 —Fremont Pass
Climax, CO 80429
(719) -486 -7678—Office
