revegetated using the project upland seed mix.
5. A two-foot thick low permeability layer will be placed on top of the existing channel excavation above
all observed mine waste.
6. An armor layer will be placed on top of the low permeability layer. This armor layer will be a minimum
of one foot thick. The armor layer will be built using reclaimed onsite soils, gravels and cobbles.
7. Grade control structures will be built into the channel invert through the mine waste sections. The
grade control structures will be built of large cobble to minimize the potential for the channel to
downcut.
8. The elevation of the new channel through the mine waste area will be raised approximately 2-3 feet
above original design elevations approved under TR02 to accommodate the low permeability and armor
layers.
9. Channel banks will be armored to minimize the potential for lateral channel migration. Armoring will be
accomplished using a matrix of gravels and cobbles buried outside the active channel section. This lateral
armoring will minimize the potential for future lateral erosion into mine waste.
10. Mine waste exposed outside of the channel area and in the side cuts of the channel will be capped with a
minimum of two feet of material.
Time is of the essence to keep this important restoration project on track. Expeditious written confirmation of
the acceptance of this notice would be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please contact us at your
earliest convenience.
