Newmont Mining Corporation ■
Cripple Creek&Victor Gold Mine ■
Squaw Gulch VLF CCW
NewFields Job No.475.0106.006
Week Ending Saturday,July 23,2016
Mike Smith - - - PE - - -
PR—Project Resident; LS— Lead Soils Technician; ST—Soils Technician; PE—Principal Engineer
LG—Lead Geosynthetics; GT—Geosynthetics Technician; PCE— Project Certifying Engineer
1.0 EARTHWORKS
1.1 Underground Working Remediation
Blasting was performed at the Upper Anaconda Mine Complex (AMC). The shot was
performed to collapse the crown pillar by loading previously drilled confirmatory
boreholes. The shot was inspected post blast and found to have dropped down into the
working, indicating a collapsed crown pillar.
The shot rock at the Upper Anaconda Mine Complex was investigated using an
excavator. A remediation plan will be developed for the area upon completion of the
investigation.
1.2 Structural Fill
Structural Fill placement continued within the Squaw Gulch VLF Phase 1 footprint. NewFields
personnel inspected fill material and observed placement and compaction procedures to
ensure that they were in accordance with the project technical specifications. Ambient
temperatures remained above 32 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the shift. The following
structural fill construction activities occurred during the shift:
Slope contouring (cut to fill) in areas bounded by bench stations:
o L5+00 to L10+00 and the Haul Road
Compaction was achieved using a smooth drum roller.
Material was cut from the Phase 1 slope near Station L10+00 and hauled to waste.
1.3 Subgrade
No subgrade acceptance was performed during this reporting period. Figure 1 shows the
previous subgrade acceptance areas.
1.4 Leak Detection Trench
Approximately 100 feet of leak detection trench were constructed along the High Grade Mill
slope in accordance with the project technical specifications.
Page 2
