RESPONSE: AG-01 was a former surface water sample location but sampling at this
location was discontinued after the historic Carleton Tailings were removed. It has not
been sampled since 1994 and coordinates for this location are unknown. Discussion of AG-
01 will be removed from the Hydrology Report going forward as it is no longer relevant.
CC&V will retain historical data for AG-01 in its Environmental Data Management
System.
4.4.4.1 Monitoring Program
• Page 24: The text lists 7 groundwater monitoring wells, including ESPMW-1, CRMW-3A,
CRMW-313, CRMW-5A, CRMW-513, CRMW-5C, and CRMW-51),and refers to Figure
2-1. However, only three of these sites are shown on Figure 2-1 (ESPMW-1, CRMW-3A,
and CRMW-313). Please revise Figure 2-1 to show locations of all monitoring sites
discussed in this section.
RESPONSE. ESPMW-1, CRMW-3A and CRMW-3B are groundwater compliance
monitoring points. The other locations are monitored on a quarterly basis to establish
baseline conditions. Figure 2-1 has been revised to include a larger scale drawing that
shows all active monitoring sites, as well as Figure 2-1 a and Figure 2-1 b, which are details
of the permit area and Carlton Tunnel, respectively(See Attachment 2).
4.5 —Cripple Creek
4.5.1 Current Conditions
• Page 26: The text indicates that multiple EMPs may exist for this drainage, and refers to
Figure 1-1. However, Figure 1-1 does not appear to show any EMPs associated with this
drainage. If there are EMPs that exist in this drainage, please show their locations on
Figure 1-1.
RESPONSE. The reference to EMPs on Page 26 is a general reference to EMPs at the
site as shown on Figure 1-1 (Attachment 2) and was not referring to EMPs specific to the
Cripple Creek Drainage as there are no active disturbance areas within Cripple Creek.
Rather upstream BMPs and EMPs in Arequa Gulch, Squaw Gulch and Poverty Gulch are
in place to minimize impacts to Cripple Creek from stormwater.
4.5.3.1 Monitoring Program
• Page 27: The text lists 4 surface water monitoring locations, including CC-01, CC- 02,
CC-03,and CC-04, and refers to Figure 2-1. However, Figure 2-1 does not show any of
these sites. Please revise Figure 2-1 to include all monitoring sites discussed in this
section. Are these stations considered to be compliance sites?
RESPONSE. Surface water locations CC-01, CC-02, CC-03, and CC-04 have
historically been sampled on a voluntary basis in an effort to gather baseline data within
the main stem of Cripple Creek. CC-01, CC-02, CC-03 and CC-04 were located to
bracket various drainages (e.g., POTW, Squaw, Arequa, and Fourmile Creek). These are
considered baseline sample locations and were last sampled in the fall 2015. The exact
locations of these sampling points are unknown, but approximate locations have been
added to Figure 2-1 (See Attachment 2).
4.6—GrasU Valley
4.6.1 Current Conditions
• Page 29: The text indicates that multiple EMPs exist for this drainage. Figure 1-1 shows
five EMPs that appear to be associated with this drainage, including EMP-018, EMP-019,
EMP-016, EMP-017,and EMP-020. Are these the only EMPs that exist for this
drainage?
