PUBLIC NOTICE
Coors Energy Company (PO Box 467,
Golden, CO 80402) has applied to the
Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining
and Safety (DRMS) for a technical
revision to change the approved final
grading plan and reduce the permitted
area at the Keenesburg Mine. Coors
Energy Company owns and operates
the Keenesburg Mine under the current
DRMS Permit C-1981-028. CEC will no
longer import ash to this facility after
2016 and has updated the final grading
plan to reflect changes in the post-
mining topography. Also, the permit
boundary is being revised to remove
areas that have previously received
Phase III bond release.
The Keenesburg Mine is located 7 miles
north of Keenesburg, Colorado, and is
accessed by Weld County Road 59. The
permitted area is portions of Sections 25
and 36, T3N R64W, 6th Principal
Meridian, Weld County, CO. Copies of
the application may be viewed at the
Keenesburg Town Hall (140 S. Main,
Keenesburg, CO), at the Weld County
Clerk and Recorder’s Office (1402 N
17th Ave, Greeley, CO 80631), and at
the DRMS (1313 Sherman St, Room
215, Denver, CO 80203). All comments,
objections, and requests must be
submitted in writing to the DRMS at the
above address. The public comment
period extends for ten days following the
date of publication of this notice.
