1
CORE Noxious Weed Management Plan
Hitch Rack Ranch Aggregate Quarry Development Project
CONSULTANTS El Paso County, Colorado
4.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
This Hitch Rack Ranch Noxious Weed Management Plan was written to comply with
guidelines in the Colorado Noxious Weed Act (Colorado Revised Statutes 35-5.5-103) and
the EPC Noxious Weed Management Plan. CORE recommends that noxious weed
management continue throughout the life of the Project during construction, operational
and reclamation phases. Noxious weed surveys should occur at the onset of each growing
season (typically early to late April). Chemical treatment would continue as necessary and
may evolve as new treatment methods emerge. Typically, chemical treatment should be
applied between late spring and early fall depending on the recommended treatment
protocols for each noxious weed species. Ongoing weed survey results and treatment
options should be communicated to the County on a yearly basis at the conclusion of each
treatment period, if any. Quarry personnel should be educated through the use of WEAP
materials. WEAP materials should be updated at the onset of each phase of construction
to promote contractor awareness of noxious weed issues and protocols on the Project site.
Revegetation and rehabilitation of the site would include noxious weed management
protocols and would promote reestablishment of a natural vegetative cover. Revegetation
and rehabilitation protocols would include drill seeding and broadcast methods. Reseeding
methods are anticipated to evolve over time and would be selected for reclamation as
new, more effective methods are developed.
The final determination of noxious weed management protocols will be determined through
coordination with the County.
If you have any questions, concerns or require additional information, please feel free to
contact me at 509.496.4508 or by email at bang@corecivil.com.
Sincerely,
CORE Consultants, Inc.
Leif Bang
Project Manager
1950 W LITTLETON BLVD I SUITE 109 1 LITTLETON GO 80120 1303.703.4444
