Please explain this <br /> discrepancy. <br /> Response: No surface water in Little Turkey Creek or Deadman Creek will be <br /> intercepted. The quarry will mine through several side drainages,and these waters <br /> will be routed to Little Turkey Creek or Deadman Creek using the storm water <br /> management system. The divide between Little Turkey Creek and Deadman Creek <br /> will be maintained using berms,topography sloped away from the divide,and <br /> separate storm water management systems. <br /> 158) Comment: The text states that a seep area with two existing springs within the proposed <br /> quarry area will be mined out,but water discharged from the springs will continue to <br /> drain to Little Turkey Creek. Please explain how water discharged from the springs will <br /> continue to drain to the creek. Does the applicant anticipate any slope stability issues of <br /> the pit wall in the area of the seeps? <br /> Response: Discussions with the landowner combined with the rock outcrop in this <br /> area suggest the presence of these seeps. There appears to only be seepage flow <br /> during wet years and no flows have been seen during site visits from Norwest <br /> personnel. Norwest's interpretation is that these seeps are related to near surface <br /> flows during wet years and not related to an aquifer. During mining of the North <br /> Pit this area will not be disturbed and any seepage flows that occur will continue to <br /> naturally drain to the creek. The access road to the TS1 and F1 stockpiles follows <br /> an alignment that does not disturb this immediate area. <br /> During mining of the South Pit,this area will be mined out along with the upland <br /> area that is considered the contributing area. Since the area will be mined out, the <br /> seeps and their source are not expected to cause slope stability issues related to the <br /> pit walls. <br /> 159) Comment: The text states that the proposed quarry will not intercept the geologic fault <br /> zones associated with the drainages in which wells in the vicinity of the proposed mine <br /> produce water,and therefore, will not directly interact with the fault zones.
