S`'4't ♦..is 7R' S3t ri'
In January and February 2016, over 1.5 miles of above ground power line including 38 power poles were
removed from Yankee Gulch. The frozen ground allowed the removal with minimal impact to soil or
vegetation. The timing of this work was coordinated with the BLM wildlife specialist to avoid negative
impact to the mule deer population winter range.
3. Is the mine site in final reclamation (all material extraction and stockpile removal
is complete)? If"YES", please note time limits related to completion of YES NO
reclamation, Rule 3.1.3.
4. What was the date of last excavation, processing or hauling activity at the mine? 2015
The Yankee Gulch mining projected involved circulation of hot water through wells to extract sodium
minerals. The last time this activity took place on the permitted site was 2004. In 2006 hauling and
excavation occurred as two ponds, used during the test mine phase, were closed out and reclaimed. This
hauling and excavation was related to reclamation and not mining. In the fall of 2013 the lateral leg
extending to well 28-21 (including all access roads and well pads 29-51, 29-53 and 29-22) was re-
contoured and reclamation seeded. In 2014 additional production wells were closed and reclaimed and in
2015 all of the remaining production wells were plugged and abandoned and the pads and lateral roads to
these wells were re-contoured and reclaimed. Material that was excavated when the well field was
initially constructed was put back into the original contour for each pad and road. No new area was
excavated. Activity in 2016, so far, includes demolition of piping and ancillary structures on the two
building sites and plugging and abandonment of ground water wells. Storm water inspections are
completed every two weeks by a certified Storm Water Specialist. Additional reclamation work on the
building locations and main well field road is planned for fall 2016.
5. Does the mine operate more than 180 days per year? YES NO
6. Has this mine been granted:
YES NO
a) Approval of TEMPORARY CESSATION Status?
b) Approval for INTERMITTENT OPERATION? YES NO
7. Number of acres currently affected (mining+ incomplete and or
46.8 acres
unreleased reclamation).
8. Number of acres that were newly affected during the current report year. 0 acres disturbed
9. Number of acres that were reclaimed during the current report year. 6.3 acres
10. Estimated new acreage to be affected in the next report year. 0
