tr U!
Permanent Man-made Structures a 0001-a3
Two permanent man-made structures exist within 200' of the proposed affected area.
One is a barbed wire fence (actually two fences) that runs along the south and southeast
sides of the operation (owned by Pat and Lila Greer). The other is the Shell Pipeline to
the east of the operation. See Exhibit E for locations of these features.
The southern edges of the settling pond and pit come within about 15' of the barbed wire
fence. There will be 1:1 slope on the pit edge during mining operations (3:1 slope after
reclamation is complete). The La Plata River runs within a few feet of the fence on the
fence's south side immediately at the bottom of a 1:1 slope(approximately). The fence is
about 15 feet further from top of the pit bank than is the fence from the top of river bank.
The river has not had any effect on the integrity of the fence to date. Therefore, it is not
anticipated that the mining operation will have any effect on the fence. If any damage
does occur to the fence as a result of mining activities, per Nielsons' lease agreement
with the Greers, it will be repaired upon completion of mining activities at the site.
Road improvement activities (widening towards the west and grading) will take place
within about 30' of the Shell Pipeline(buried)on the eastern end of the operation. The
Redmesa Pit itself is approximately 1300' from the Shell Pipeline. The proposed mining
activity will have no effect on the Shell Pipeline.
