EXHIBIT D - Mining Plan
a) Mining will utilize the following operations:
i)Use of dozer to remove and stockpile existing top soil
ii)Utilize dozer to remove and stockpile overburden
iii)Utilize dozer to push up gravel
iv)Utilize a frontend loader or track hoe to load material onto trucks.
b) The site will be mined to approximately 20 feet in depth. Mining will be done on an
approximate 3:1 slope down to the bottom of the pit area. There is no topsoil in the
actual dry creekbed itself. Topsoil outside the creek bed ranges from 4"-5" in depth.
The area lying outside the creek bed will have the topsoil stripped, stockpiled for re-
application during reclamation. The bank along the creek will also be stripped and
stockpiled for later use in reclamation. Any topsoil stockpile will be seeded with
brome grass to prevent soil erosion.
c) There are no anticipated water diversions or impoundments. There is no surface
water at the site. When rainfall occurs, the pit area may be unworkable for a few
days. Since the use of the pit is intermittent, we will be able to work around those
occurrences.
d) Our intent is to work only a few acres as we move east each time. In each move new
delineator posts will be set. The permanent NE and SE corners will not be set until
mining efforts finally reach the east end. The unused portion of the pit will continue
to be farmed until we are ready to move into that area. We plan to maintain a 25-foot
setback around the entire perimeter of the pit for maintenance and inspection. Thus,
only 31.4 acres will actually be disturbed. The boundary line and corners will be
clearly staked with red painted steel posts
e) The mining plan is to begin in the existing pit-current production. We will remove
top soil by dozer and create a stockpile on the north side of this 9.9-acre area. The
top soil on the west edge appears to be about 3-6" deep, while top soil along the east
side is almost non-existent. Stockpiles of top soil will be seeded with brome grass to
minimize blowing or erosion. When the current area is mined, the top soil will be
spread out evenly and the 3:1 slope maintained on the sidewalls. The next area to be
mined will be to the east of the existing pit.
No on-site processing is anticipated.
i) Since the pit will be used on an intermittent basis, it is difficult to estimate the
time it will take to mine all three areas. We are estimating that it will take ten
years to mine the expanded pit.
3
