Plan, Elevations & Sections, " Drawing No. 03-G-11A. A
HEPA fan and filter will be installed on the southeast
wall of the building to provide a slight negative draft
while bags are being disposed.. The filter will screen out
asbestos fibers , should they be present. Used filter
media will also be disposed in the shaft when required.
An access. door for bags of asbestos will be installed on
the northwest side of the building along with a roller
conveyor to facilitate moving the bags over the shaft
opening. (A hopper may be used in place of the rollers
should this appear to be more workable) . When bags are
being disposed no personnel will be in the building. When
bags are not being disposed, all access doors will be
closed and locked to prevent unauthorized entry into the
building.
After disposal of asbestos is completed the enclosure
building will be cleaned and demolished. Demolition
residue will be placed in the shaft. Necessary fill will
be added and a clay cap installed. The surface will then
be graded and prepared to comply with the requirements of
the Climax reclamation plan. The site will be suitably
marked so that asbestos will not be dug up by mistake.
This completes the description of the proposed plan to
dispose of asbestos at Climax.
