In addition, our School Board members have
spent time meeting with the above mentioned representatives and reviewing information
regarding current and proposed truck routing issues. In these review meetings we were made
aware that the current truck route path is on 36th lane, which passes directly in front of
Vineland Middle School. It became obvious in our meetings that none of our District personnel
were aware of this long-standing truck route, because it has generated no issue of concern thus
far. The volume of trucks has not had a major impact to our educational process or traffic
patterns at Vineland Middle School in the past 19 years that I have held this position. Nor has it
ever been brought to my attention or the attention of others in the District that the volume of
trucks has created problems for the school.
On the other hand,we see no difficulties with the proposed, new truck route on 44th lane. This
area is completely away from all school campuses and there are limited bus routes in that area,
which would mean limited to no impact to our schools in the area.
With all this said, it would be the District's position in this situation to support economic
growth and development, and we see no difficulties from our prospective with either truck
route.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at (719) 295-6534. Thank you for your
time and consideration of this information.
cerely,
Greg as ing, rector
Student Services
Pueblo County School District 70
